What’s happening on Carpenters Estate?

Since August 2020 we’ve been working with residents to put together a new plan for Carpenters Estate after many years of uncertainty. Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz is committed to ensuring that residents are at the heart of shaping this new plan. Ultimately the decision on the future of the estate will be in residents’ hands via a ballot.

A message from the mayor:

Hello Everyone,

There’s been a lot of progress with the Carpenters Estate plans over the past three years, and finally residents now have their chance to vote on the Landlord Offer in the ballot that is now open.

The ballot is a major turning point in how far we have come in restoring the trust that had been lost between the Council and local residents previously. Back in 2018, I promised that I would do all that I can to restore that trust, and I will continue to work hard to do the best for you, your family and the Carpenters Estate community.

I want to thank you all for your ideas and input, and a successful ballot would bring us closer to starting the much needed restoration and regeneration of the Carpenters Estate. Works will begin early next year if you give it the green light through voting ‘YES’ in the ballot.

I will always be on the side of Carpenters Estate residents, working hard to make sure the Council delivers the housing security our people need. It’s all part of my mission to ensure that Newham is transformed positively for all our communities.

Best wishes,

Mayor Rokhsana

A message from your ward Councillors:

Dear Residents,

Now that the vote is open we know that this is an important time for residents as they decide the future of the estate. After the results of the ballot are in we will still want to continue conversations with residents and our surgeries will be continuing.

Over next session is Saturday 11th December

Please do drop in and talk to us about your situation.

Warmest wishes,

Councillor Joshua Garfield,

Councillor Nareser Osei

Councillor Terry Paul
